Campus Life

The committee for Campus Life oversees the social development of Duke students and assists with university policies relating to the undergraduate experience. We handle athletic events, K-Ville, residential life initiatives, social programming, parking & transportation, and dining. Last year, we successfully passed the K-Ville Financial Aid Statute, improved access to online appointment booking, and reimagined equivalency options and the five dollar deal in dining halls. This year, the Campus Life committee hopes to complete project work allowing food point usage in Cameron Indoor Stadium & Wallace Wade Stadium, piloting an airport transportation shuttle to RDU, and integrating Quads into student life through tailgating and the planning of QuadCup competitions. Our project work is crafted with intentionality and care to address shifting student needs as Duke moves into its second century.

Committee Projects

Airport Transportation Shuttles

Piloted airport shuttle bus program in fall 2024, transporting over 300 students from Duke to RDU for Thanksgiving break.

Blue Devil Buddies

This program matches incoming freshmen with current Duke students and revolutionized the freshman’s class introduction to the Duke experience. Previously a responsibility of the Academic Affairs committee, the success of the project required the expansion to Campus Life, and its own designated committee.

Water Bottle Fillers

Partnered with Housing & Residential Life to install ADA-accessible water bottle fillers in all West Campus Quads starting fall 2026 to address student concerns.

Healthcare Vending Machines

Installed healthcare vending machines on East Campus to increase access to health and menstrual products for first-year students.

Junior Jumpstart

Partnered with Housing & Residential Life to help expand QuadEx into the upperclassmen experience. Junior Jumpstart supports returning juniors from abroad and on-campus juniors alike and provides access to events, senior guidance on off-campus living, and community-building as they prepare for the future.

Gameday Parking

Expanded the window to move cars from the Blue Zone to 24-hours before football gamedays to reduce the amount of ticketing and towing at Duke, in collaboration with Duke Parking & Transportation.

East Campus Kitchen Equipment

Partnered with Housing & Residential Life to collect data on the expansion of East Campus Kitchens to better fit student needs and address populations that stay on campus for major university breaks.

Food Point Usage Expansion

Working on expanding food points to Nanxiang and Pincho Loco and the goal of adding more Ninth Street restaurants to Merchants on Points. Also trying to extend food points to Wallace Wade and Cameron Indoor Stadium.
