What is the Airport Transportation Initiative?

The program was launched by the Campus Life Committee in November 2024.

The Airport Transportation Initiative was created to make airport transportation more convenient, affordable, and accessible as Duke students head home for the holidays.

What is the Blue Devil Market?

The Blue Devil Market began in the fall of 2022 in Keohane Atrium as “The Keohane Market,” a program initiated by then-Residence Coordinator Jill Solomon (now Dean Jill). Receiving large turnouts for the Keohane Market, Jill Solomon looked to expand its impact outside of Keohane. In the spring of 2023, Solomon applied for the Heaton Blackshear Grant through the Dean of Students’ Office, securing funding for a one-year pilot program. With the support of an incredible team, the program hosted three large markets throughout the 2023-2024 school year, each serving an average of 500 students. Thanks to the dedication of numerous Student Affairs staff, strong support from Residence Life, and many Durham community partners, the initiative not only provided students with access to fresh fruits and vegetables but also sparked broader conversations about food accessibility on Duke’s campus.

The success of “the Keohane market” demonstrated a clear need for such programming to continue, and DSG is proud to be a part of this continuance.
