The Campus Life (CL) Committee oversees the social development of Duke students and assists with university policies relating to the undergraduate experience. We handle athletic events, K-Ville, residential life initiatives, social programming, parking & transportation, and dining. Last year, we successfully passed the K-Ville Financial Aid Statute, improved access to online appointment booking, and reimagined equivalency options and the five dollar deal in dining halls. This year, the Campus Life committee hopes to complete project work allowing food point usage in Cameron Indoor Stadium & Wallace Wade Stadium, piloting an airport transportation shuttle to RDU, and integrating Quads into student life through tailgating and the planning of QuadCup competitions. Our project work is crafted with intentionality and care to address shifting student needs as Duke moves into its second century.
Projects
- Airport Transportation Shuttles: Piloted airport shuttle bus program in fall 2024, transporting over 300 students from Duke to RDU for Thanksgiving break.
- Blue Devil Buddies: this program, which matches incoming freshmen with current Duke students, revolutionized the freshman’s class introduction to the Duke experience. Previously a responsibility of the Academic Affairs committee, the success of the project required the expansion to Campus Life, and its own designated committee.
- Democracy Day: Coordinated a civic engagement fair & a campus-wide celebration of early voting for midterm & presidential elections. Set an early-voting record at Duke in 2024.
- Water Bottle Fillers: Partnered with Housing & Residential Life to install ADA-accessible water bottle fillers in all West Campus Quads starting fall 2026 to address student concerns.
- Healthcare Vending Machines: Installed healthcare vending machines on East Campus to increase access to health and menstrual products for first-year students.
- Junior Jumpstart: Partnered with Housing & Residential Life to help expand QuadEx into the upperclassmen experience. Junior Jumpstart supports returning juniors from abroad and on-campus juniors alike and provides access to events, senior guidance on off-campus living, and community-building as they prepare for the future.
- Gameday Parking: Expanded the window to move cars from the Blue Zone to 24-hours before football gamedays to reduce the amount of ticketing and towing at Duke, in collaboration with Duke Parking & Transportation.
- East Campus Kitchen Equipment: Partnered with Housing & Residential Life to collect data on the expansion of East Campus Kitchens to better fit student needs and address populations that stay on campus for major university breaks.
- Food Point Expansion: Working on expanding food points to Nanxiang and Pincho Loco and the goal of adding more Ninth Street restaurants to Merchants on Points. Also trying to extend food points to Wallace Wade and Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Committee
Angela Chen – VP
As VP for CL, Angela is responsible for leading her committee and assisting with projects, managing the DSG policy agenda, and serving as the chief advocate and administrative contact for her committee. Angela’s main projects for this year are Equitable (Free) Laundry Initiative and Blue Devil Buddies.
Romit Chunduri – AVP
Romit is a junior from Atlanta, GA, majoring in Biology. Romit has previously served on Campus Life, heading the East Campus Healthcare Vending Machine project and working on the implementation of new water fountains in Few and Kilgo. Romit’s main goal for this year is to work with the DSG student body as well as committees to make all aspects of campus accessible and enjoyable for students and staff alike.
Annie Nam – Senator
Annie is a junior from Flowood, MS majoring in Biology and double-minoring in Chemistry and Asian & Middle Eastern Studies. Annie has served as an elected senator for the past two years, contributing to projects such as Expansion of Equivalency Points, Reimagination of $5 Deals, Enhancing Residence Hall Emergency Preparedness, Lock-Out Project, and Junior Jumpstart. Annie’s goal for this year is to build a stronger sense of community and collaboration across campus. Annie is passionate about creating inclusive spaces where every student feels seen, supported, and empowered to contribute. By prioritizing teamwork and open communication, she aims to contribute to a campus environment rooted in belonging.
Samanyu Gangappa – Senator
Clark Easley – Senator
Clark is a sophomore from Schaumburg, IL majoring in Economics, Cultural Anthropology, and Ethics through Program 2 and is a Robertson Scholar. Clark is returning as a CL senator this year, and his main goal is to ensure that all Duke students can get the full Duke experience.
Cassatt Boatwright – Senator
Cassatt is a sophomore from San Francisco, CA majoring in Public Policy and minoring in Education while completing the Child Policy Research certificate. Cassatt previously served as a CL Senator and was involved with projects such as the K-Ville Loaner Project and Blue Devil Buddies. Cassatt’s goal for this year is to focus on projects that build community and close gaps in accessibility!
Sravya Yellapragada – Senator
Sravya is a senior from Chicago, IL earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics and double-minoring in Economics and Biology. Sravya has previously served as a CL senator, working on projects such as Safe Social Life in Durham and Increased Healthcare Access on East Campus. Sravya is President of Blue Devil Buddies, and her main goal for this year is to continue to leave Duke a better place than she found it.
Arnav Jindal
Stroud Snider – Senator
Stroud is a sophomore from Winston-Salem, NC majoring in Chemistry and Political Science. Stroud has one year of experience as CL Senator and as a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and will continue to serve both of these roles. Stroud’s goal for this year is to continue his personal dorm expansion project and to start a new project aimed at making campus life better and more accessible for all students.
Kaylyn Oh – Senator
Kaylyn is a junior from Orange County, CA majoring in Public Policy and minoring in Journalism and Media. Kaylyn has been a senator since her freshman year and has assisted with projects like Enhancing Residence Hall Emergency Preparedness, Blue Devil Buddies, and Free Airport Transportation. Kaylyn’s main goal is to continue collaborating with the student body and Duke administration in an effort to work on projects that make a noticeable difference.
